Genesis 35:1–2

God Blesses and Renames Jacob

35 God said to Jacob, “Arise, go up to bBethel and dwell there. Make an altar there to the God who appeared to you cwhen you fled from your brother Esau.” So Jacob said to his dhousehold and to all who were with him, “Put away ethe foreign gods that are among you and fpurify yourselves and change your garments.

Genesis 35:1–2 — The New International Version (NIV)

Then God said to Jacob, “Go up to Bethel and settle there, and build an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you were fleeing from your brother Esau.”

So Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him, “Get rid of the foreign gods you have with you, and purify yourselves and change your clothes.
