Ezekiel 30:16–18

16 I will set fire to Egypt;

Pelusium will writhe in agony.

Thebes will be taken by storm;

Memphis will be in constant distress.

17 The young men of Heliopolis and Bubastis

will fall by the sword,

and the cities themselves will go into captivity.

18 Dark will be the day at Tahpanhes

when I break the yoke of Egypt;

there her proud strength will come to an end.

She will be covered with clouds,

and her villages will go into captivity.

16 And I will set fire in Egypt: Sin shall have great pain, and No shall be rent asunder, and Noph shall have distresses daily. 17 The young men of Aven and of Pi-beseth shall fall by the sword: and these cities shall go into captivity. 18 At Tehaphnehes also the day shall be darkened, when I shall break there the yokes of Egypt: and the pomp of her strength shall cease in her: as for her, a cloud shall cover her, and her daughters shall go into captivity.

16 Yes, I will set fire to all Egypt!

Pelusium will be racked with pain;

Thebes will be torn apart;

Memphis will live in constant terror.

17 The young men of Heliopolis and Bubastis will die in battle,

and the women will be taken away as slaves.

18 When I come to break the proud strength of Egypt,

it will be a dark day for Tahpanhes, too.

A dark cloud will cover Tahpanhes,

and its daughters will be led away as captives.

16 And set a fire in Egypt;

Sin shall have great pain,

No shall be split open,

And Noph shall be in distress daily.

17 The young men of Aven and Pi Beseth shall fall by the sword,

And these cities shall go into captivity.

18 At Tehaphnehes the day shall also be darkened,

When I break the yokes of Egypt there.

And her arrogant strength shall cease in her;

As for her, a cloud shall cover her,

And her daughters shall go into captivity.

16 I will set fire to Egypt.

Pelusium will be in great pain.

The walls of Thebes will be broken open,

and Memphis will have troubles every day.

17 The young men of Heliopolis and Bubastis

will fall dead in war,

and the people will be taken away as captives.

18 In Tahpanhes the day will be dark

when I break Egypt’s power.

Then she will no longer be proud of her power.

A cloud will cover Egypt,

and her villages will be captured and taken away.

16 And I will set a fire in Egypt: Sin shall be in great anguish, and No shall be broken up; and Memphis shall have adversaries in the day-time. 17 The young men of Aven and of Pi-beseth shall fall by the sword; and these cities shall go into captivity. 18 At Tehaphnehes also the day shall withdraw itself, when I shall break there the yokes of Egypt, and the pride of her power shall cease in her: as for her, a cloud shall cover her, and her daughters shall go into captivity.

16 And I will set a fire in Egypt: Sin shall be in great anguish, and No shall be rent asunder, and at Noph there shall be enemies in open day. 17 The young men of Aven and of Pibeseth shall fall by the sword; and these shall go into captivity. 18 And at Tehaphnehes the day shall be darkened, when I break there the yokes of Egypt, and the pride of her strength shall cease in her; as for her, a cloud shall cover her, and her daughters shall go into captivity.

16 I will set fire to Egypt. Sin will be in much pain. Thebes will be broken into pieces, and Memphis will be in trouble every day. 17 The young men from Heliopolis and Bubastis will die in battle, and people from these cities will go into exile. 18 At Tahpanhes the day will turn dark when I break Egypt’s power. Egypt’s strong army will be defeated. Clouds will cover Egypt, and people from its villages will go into exile.

16 I will set fire to Egypt;

and Memphis will face foes in broad daylight.

17 The young men of On and Pi-beseth

will fall by the sword,

and those cities will go into captivity.

18 The day will be dark in Tehaphnehes,

when I break the yoke of Egypt there

and its proud strength

comes to an end in the city.

A cloud will cover Tehaphnehes,

and its villages will go into captivity.

16 I will set fire to Egypt;

and Memphis face adversaries by day.

17 The young men of On and of Pi-beseth shall fall by the sword,

and the cities themselves shall go into captivity.

18 At Tehaphnehes the day shall be dark,

when I break there the dominion of Egypt,

and its proud might shall come to an end;

the city shall be covered by a cloud,

and its daughter towns shall go into captivity.

16 And I will set fire in Egypt,

certainly Sin will writhe,

and No will be breached,

and Memphis will face enemies daily.

17 The young men of On and Pi Beseth will fall by the sword,

and they will go into captivity.

18 And at Tahpanhes the day will become dark

when I break the yoke of Egypt,

and in it the majesty of its strength

will come to an end.

A cloud will cover it,

and its daughters will go into captivity.

16 I will set Egypt on fire.

Pelusium will groan with terrible pain.

Thebes will be ripped apart.

Memphis will suffer greatly

because of everything that happens.

17 The young men of Heliopolis and Bubastis

will be killed with swords.

Their people will be taken away as prisoners.

18 I will break Egypt’s power over other lands.

That will be a dark day for Tahpanhes.

There the strength Egypt was so proud of

will come to an end.

Egypt will be covered with clouds.

The people in its villages

will be taken away as prisoners.
