7 “ ‘For the blood she shed is in her midst:

She poured it on the bare rock;

she did not pour it on the ground,

where the dust would cover it.

8 To stir up wrath and take revenge

I put her blood on the bare rock,

so that it would not be covered.

7 For her blood is in the midst of her; she set it upon the top of a rock; she poured it not upon the ground, to cover it with dust; 8 That it might cause fury to come up to take vengeance; I have set her blood upon the top of a rock, that it should not be covered.

7 For the blood of her murders

is splashed on the rocks.

It isn’t even spilled on the ground,

where the dust could cover it!

8 So I will splash her blood on a rock

for all to see,

an expression of my anger

and vengeance against her.

7 For her blood is in her midst;

She set it on top of a rock;

She did not pour it on the ground,

To cover it with dust.

8 That it may raise up fury and take vengeance,

I have set her blood on top of a rock,

That it may not be covered.”

7 “ ‘The blood from her killings is still in the city.

She poured the blood on the bare rock.

She did not pour it on the ground

where dust would cover it.

8 To stir up my anger and revenge,

I put the blood she spilled on the bare rock

so it will not be covered.

7 For her blood is in the midst of her; she set it upon the bare rock; she poured it not upon the ground, to cover it with dust. 8 That it may cause wrath to come up to take vengeance, I have set her blood upon the bare rock, that it should not be covered.

7 Blood is still in that city. 

The blood was poured on a bare rock. 

It wasn’t poured on the ground where dust would cover it. 

8 In order to stir up my fury so that I would pay that city back, 

I put the blood of its victims on a bare rock. 

Now that blood can’t be covered. 

7 For the blood she shed is still within her.

She put it out on the bare rock;

she didn’t pour it on the ground

to cover it with dust.

8 In order to stir up wrath and take vengeance,

I have put her blood on the bare rock,

so that it would not be covered.

7 For the blood she shed is inside it;

she placed it on a bare rock;

she did not pour it out on the ground,

to cover it with earth.

8 To rouse my wrath, to take vengeance,

I have placed the blood she shed

on a bare rock,

so that it may not be covered.

7 For her blood was in the midst of her; she put it on a bare rock; she did not pour it on the ground to cover it with dust. 8 To stir up rage, to avenge myself through vengeance, I placed its blood on the barrenness of a rock, so that it may not be covered.”

7 “The blood Jerusalem’s people spilled is inside its walls.

They poured it out on a bare rock.

They did not pour it on the ground.

If they had, dust would have covered it up.

8 So I put their blood on the bare rock.

I did not want it to be covered up.

I poured my burning anger out on them.

I paid them back.”

7 “For her blood is in her midst;

She placed it on the bare rock;

She did not pour it on the ground

To cover it with dust.

8 “That it may cause wrath to come up to take vengeance,

I have put her blood on the bare rock,

That it may not be covered.”
