Ezekiel 27:32–34

32 As they wail and mourn over you,

they will take up a lament concerning you:

“Who was ever silenced like Tyre,

surrounded by the sea?”

33 When your merchandise went out on the seas,

you satisfied many nations;

with your great wealth and your wares

you enriched the kings of the earth.

34 Now you are shattered by the sea

in the depths of the waters;

your wares and all your company

have gone down with you.

32 And in their wailing they shall take up a lamentation for thee, and lament over thee, saying, What city is like Tyrus, like the destroyed in the midst of the sea? 33 When thy wares went forth out of the seas, thou filledst many people; thou didst enrich the kings of the earth with the multitude of thy riches and of thy merchandise. 34 In the time when thou shalt be broken by the seas in the depths of the waters thy merchandise and all thy company in the midst of thee shall fall.

32 As they wail and mourn over you,

they sing this sad funeral song:

‘Was there ever such a city as Tyre,

now silent at the bottom of the sea?

33 The merchandise you traded

satisfied the desires of many nations.

Kings at the ends of the earth

were enriched by your trade.

34 Now you are a wrecked ship,

broken at the bottom of the sea.

All your merchandise and crew

have gone down with you.

32 In their wailing for you

They will take up a lamentation,

And lament for you:

‘What city is like Tyre,

Destroyed in the midst of the sea?

33 ‘When your wares went out by sea,

You satisfied many people;

You enriched the kings of the earth

With your many luxury goods and your merchandise.

34 But you are broken by the seas in the depths of the waters;

Your merchandise and the entire company will fall in your midst.

32 And in their loud crying

they sing a funeral song for you:

“No one was ever destroyed like Tyre,

surrounded by the sea.”

33 When the goods you traded went out over the seas,

you met the needs of many nations.

With your great wealth and goods,

you made kings of the earth rich.

34 But now you are broken by the sea

and have sunk to the bottom.

Your goods and all the people on board

have gone down with you.

32 And in their wailing they shall take up a lamentation for thee, and lament over thee, saying, Who is there like Tyre, like her that is brought to silence in the midst of the sea? 33 When thy wares went forth out of the seas, thou filledst many peoples; thou didst enrich the kings of the earth with the multitude of thy riches and of thy merchandise. 34 In the time that thou wast broken by the seas in the depths of the waters, thy merchandise and all thy company did fall in the midst of thee.

32 And in their wailing they shall take up a lamentation for thee, and lament over thee, saying, Who is like Tyre, like her that is destroyed in the midst of the sea? 33 When thy wares went forth over the seas, thou filledst many peoples; thou didst enrich the kings of the earth with the abundance of thy substance and of thy merchandise. 34 In the time when thou art broken by the seas, in the depths of the waters, thy merchandise and all thine assemblage in the midst of thee have fallen.

32 They sang a funeral song for you with loud crying: 

“Who is like Tyre, the city destroyed in the sea?” 

33 Your merchandise was sent overseas. 

You filled many people with your great wealth and your goods. 

You made the kings of the earth rich. 

34 Now you are wrecked in the sea, at the bottom of the sea. 

Your goods and your whole crew sank with you. 

32 In their wailing they lament for you,

mourning over you:

Who was like Tyre,

silenced in the middle of the sea?

33 When your merchandise was unloaded from the seas,

you satisfied many peoples.

You enriched the kings of the earth

with your abundant wealth and goods.

34 Now you are shattered by the sea

in the depths of the waters;

your goods and the people within you

have gone down.

32 In their wailing they raise a lamentation for you

and lament over you:

“Who was ever destroyed like Tyre

in the midst of the sea?

33 When your wares came from the seas,

you satisfied many peoples;

with your abundant wealth and merchandise

you enriched the kings of the earth.

34 Now you are wrecked by the seas,

in the depths of the waters;

your merchandise and all your crew

have sunk with you.

32 And they will raise over you with their wailing a lament,

and they will chant a lament over you:

‘Who is like Tyre,

like this destruction in the midst of the sea?’

33 When your merchandise went out from the seas,

you satisfied many peoples with the abundance of your wealth,

and by your wares

you made rich the kings of the world.

34 Now you are broken by seas

in the depths of waters;

your wares and all of your crew

in the midst of you have sunk.

32 As they sob and cry over you,

they will sing a song of sadness about you.

They will say, ‘Who was ever like Tyre?

It was destroyed in the sea.’

33 Your goods went out on the seas.

You supplied many nations with what they needed.

You had so much wealth and so many products.

You made the kings of the earth rich.

34 Now the sea has torn you apart.

You have sunk deep down into it.

Your products and all of your people

have gone down with you.

32 “Moreover, in their wailing they will take up a lamentation for you

And lament over you:

‘Who is like Tyre,

Like her who is silent in the midst of the sea?

33 ‘When your wares went out from the seas,

You satisfied many peoples;

With the abundance of your wealth and your merchandise

You enriched the kings of earth.

34 ‘Now that you are broken by the seas

In the depths of the waters,

Your merchandise and all your company

Have fallen in the midst of you.
