28 “And you, son of man, prophesy and say, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says about the Ammonites and their insults:

“ ‘A sword, a sword,

drawn for the slaughter,

polished to consume

and to flash like lightning!

29 Despite false visions concerning you

and lying divinations about you,

it will be laid on the necks

of the wicked who are to be slain,

whose day has come,

whose time of punishment has reached its climax.

28 And thou, son of man, prophesy and say, Thus saith the Lord God concerning the Ammonites, and concerning their reproach; even say thou, The sword, the sword is drawn: for the slaughter it is furbished, to consume because of the glittering: 29 Whiles they see vanity unto thee, whiles they divine a lie unto thee, to bring thee upon the necks of them that are slain, of the wicked, whose day is come, when their iniquity shall have an end.

28 “And now, son of man, prophesy concerning the Ammonites and their mockery. Give them this message from the Sovereign Lord:

“A sword, a sword

is drawn for your slaughter.

It is polished to destroy,

flashing like lightning!

29 Your prophets have given false visions,

and your fortune-tellers have told lies.

The sword will fall on the necks of the wicked

for whom the day of final reckoning has come.

28 “And you, son of man, prophesy and say, ‘Thus says the Lord God concerning the Ammonites and concerning their reproach,’ and say:

‘A sword, a sword is drawn,

Polished for slaughter,

For consuming, for flashing—

29 While they see false visions for you,

While they divine a lie to you,

To bring you on the necks of the wicked, the slain

Whose day has come,

Whose iniquity shall end.

28 “And you, human, prophesy and say: ‘This is what the Lord God says about the people of Ammon and their insults:

A sword, a sword

is pulled out of its holder.

It is polished to kill and destroy,

to flash like lightning!

29 Prophets see false visions about you

and prophesy lies about you.

The sword will be put on the necks

of these unclean and evil people.

Their day of judging has come;

the time of final punishment has come.

28 And thou, son of man, prophesy, and say, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah concerning the children of Ammon, and concerning their reproach; and say thou, A sword, a sword is drawn, for the slaughter it is furbished, to cause it to devour, that it may be as lightning; 29 while they see for thee false visions, while they divine lies unto thee, to lay thee upon the necks of the wicked that are deadly wounded, whose day is come in the time of the iniquity of the end.

28 And thou, son of man, prophesy and say, Thus speaketh the Lord Jehovah concerning the children of Ammon, and concerning their reproach; and thou shalt say, A sword, a sword is drawn; for the slaughter is it furbished, that it may consume, that it may glitter: 29 whilst they see vanity for thee, whilst they divine a lie unto thee, to lay thee upon the necks of the wicked that are slain, whose day is come at the time of the iniquity of the end.

28 “Son of man, prophesy. Tell them, ‘This is what the Almighty Lord says about the Ammonites and their insults: 

A sword, a sword is drawn ready to kill. 

It’s polished to destroy and flash like lightning. 

29 People see false visions about you 

and prophesy lies about you. 

The sword will be placed on the necks of dishonest, wicked people, 

for whom the time of final punishment has come. 

28 “Now prophesy, son of man, and say: This is what the Lord God says concerning the Ammonites and their contempt. You are to proclaim:

A sword! A sword

is drawn for slaughter,

polished to consume, to flash like lightning.

29 While they offer false visions

and lying divinations about you,

the time has come to put you

to the necks of the profane wicked ones;

the day has come

for your punishment.

28 As for you, mortal, prophesy, and say, Thus says the Lord God concerning the Ammonites, and concerning their reproach; say:

A sword, a sword! Drawn for slaughter,

polished to consume, to flash like lightning.

29 Offering false visions for you,

divining lies for you,

they place you over the necks

of the vile, wicked ones—

those whose day has come,

the time of final punishment.

28 And you, son of man, prophesy, and you must say, ‘Thus says the Lord Yahweh to the Ammonites and concerning their disgrace,’ and you must say, ‘A sword, a sword is drawn for slaughtering; it is polished for holding, for flashing like lightning, 29 when seeing a false vision for you in vain, when practicing divination for you falsely, to give you on the neck of the profane ones of the wicked, whose day has come, the time of final punishment.

28 “Son of man, prophesy. Say, ‘The Lord and King speaks about the Ammonites. He also talks about the way they laugh because of Jerusalem’s fall. He says,

“ ‘ “A sword! A sword!

Nebuchadnezzar’s sword is ready to kill you.

It is shined to destroy you.

It flashes like lightning.

29 The visions of your prophets are false.

They use magic to try to find out

what is going to happen to you.

But their magic tricks are lies.

The sword will strike the necks of you sinful people.

You will be killed.

The day for you to be punished has finally come.

Your time is up.

28 “And you, son of man, prophesy and say, ‘Thus says the Lord God concerning the sons of Ammon and concerning their reproach,’ and say: ‘A sword, a sword is drawn, polished for the slaughter, to cause it to consume, that it may be like lightning—

29 while they see for you false visions, while they divine lies for you—to place you on the necks of the wicked who are slain, whose day has come, in the time of the punishment of the end.
