Ecclesiastes 1:9–10
Ecclesiastes 1:9–10 — The New International Version (NIV)
9 What has been will be again,
what has been done will be done again;
there is nothing new under the sun.
10 Is there anything of which one can say,
“Look! This is something new”?
It was here already, long ago;
it was here before our time.
Ecclesiastes 1:9–10 — King James Version (KJV 1900)
9 The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. 10 Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us.
Ecclesiastes 1:9–10 — New Living Translation (NLT)
9 History merely repeats itself. It has all been done before. Nothing under the sun is truly new. 10 Sometimes people say, “Here is something new!” But actually it is old; nothing is ever truly new.
Ecclesiastes 1:9–10 — The New King James Version (NKJV)
9 That which has been is what will be,
That which is done is what will be done,
And there is nothing new under the sun.
10 Is there anything of which it may be said,
“See, this is new”?
It has already been in ancient times before us.
Ecclesiastes 1:9–10 — New Century Version (NCV)
9 All things continue the way they have been since the beginning.
What has happened will happen again;
there is nothing new here on earth.
10 Someone might say,
“Look, this is new,”
but really it has always been here.
It was here before we were.
Ecclesiastes 1:9–10 — American Standard Version (ASV)
9 That which hath been is that which shall be; and that which hath been done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. 10 Is there a thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been long ago, in the ages which were before us.
Ecclesiastes 1:9–10 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)
9 That which hath been is that which shall be; and that which hath been done is that which will be done: and there is nothing new under the sun. 10 Is there a thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? It hath been already in the ages which were before us.
Ecclesiastes 1:9–10 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)

“See, this is new”?
It has already been,
in the ages before us.
Ecclesiastes 1:9–10 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)
9 What has been—it is what will be;
what has been done—it is what will be done;
there is nothing new under the sun.

But it already existed in ages past before us.

9 Everything that has ever been will come back again.
Everything that has ever been done will be done again.
Nothing is new on earth.
10 There isn’t anything about which someone can say,
“Look! Here’s something new.”
It was already here long ago.
It was here before we were.

“See this, it is new”?
Already it has existed for ages
Which were before us.
