Solomon’s Prayer for Wisdom

vSolomon made a marriage alliance with Pharaoh king of Egypt. 1 Kings 3:1–2 — The New International Version (NIV)

Solomon made an alliance with Pharaoh king of Egypt and married his daughter. He brought her to the City of David until he finished building his palace and the temple of the Lord, and the wall around Jerusalem. The people, however, were still sacrificing at the high places, because a temple had not yet been built for the Name of the Lord.

Solomon and Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, agreed to help each other. So Solomon got married to Pharaoh’s daughter. He brought her to the City of David. She stayed there until he finished building his palace, the Lord’s temple, and the wall that was around Jerusalem.

But the people continued to offer sacrifices at the high places where they worshiped. That’s because a temple hadn’t been built yet where the Lord would put his Name.
