8 Young and old alike, teacher as well as student, cast lots for their duties.

9 The first lot, which was for Asaph, fell to Joseph,

his sons and relatives 12

the second to Gedaliah,

him and his relatives and sons 12

8 And they cast lots, ward against ward, as well the small as the great, the teacher as the scholar. 9 Now the first lot came forth for Asaph to Joseph: the second to Gedaliah, who with his brethren and sons were twelve:

8 The musicians were appointed to their term of service by means of sacred lots, without regard to whether they were young or old, teacher or student.

9 The first lot fell to Joseph of the Asaph clan and twelve of his sons and relatives.

The second lot fell to Gedaliah and twelve of his sons and relatives.

8 And they cast lots for their duty, the small as well as the great, the teacher with the student.

9 Now the first lot for Asaph came out for Joseph; the second for Gedaliah, him with his brethren and sons, twelve;

8 Everyone threw lots to choose the time his family was to serve at the Temple. The young and the old, the teacher and the student, had to throw lots.

9 First, the lot fell to Joseph, from the family of Asaph.

Second, twelve men were chosen from Gedaliah, his sons and relatives.

8 And they cast lots for their offices, all alike, as well the small as the great, the teacher as the scholar.

9 Now the first lot came forth for Asaph to Joseph: the second to Gedaliah; he and his brethren and sons were twelve:

8 And they cast lots with one another over the charges, the small as well as the great, the teacher with the scholar. 9 And the first lot came forth for Asaph to Joseph; to Gedaliah the second: he and his brethren and his sons were twelve.

8 They drew lots for their assignment of duties, the youngest as well as the oldest, the skilled ⸤musicians⸥ along with the students. 

9 The first lot drawn chose Joseph, the son of Asaph. 

The second chose Gedaliah, his sons, and his relatives—12 men. 

8 They cast lots for their duties, young and old alike, teacher as well as pupil.

9 The first lot for Asaph fell to Joseph, his sons, and his brothers—12

to Gedaliah the second: him, his brothers, and his sons—12

8 And they cast lots for their duties, small and great, teacher and pupil alike.

9 The first lot fell for Asaph to Joseph; the second to Gedaliah, to him and his brothers and his sons, twelve;

8 And they cast lots for responsibilities on the principle of small and great alike, teacher with student.

9 And the first lot for Asaph went out to Joseph; the second to Gedaliahu; he and his brothers and his twelve sons.

8 Young and old alike cast lots for their duties. That was true for students as well as teachers.

9 The 1st lot that was drawn out was for Asaph. It was for Joseph

and his sons and relatives. The total number was 12.

The 2nd lot was for Gedaliah

and his relatives and sons. The total number was 12.

8 They cast lots for their duties, all alike, the small as well as the great, the teacher as well as the pupil.

9 Now the first lot came out for Asaph to Joseph, the second for Gedaliah, he with his relatives and sons were twelve;
