1 Samuel 20:32–33

32 “Why should he be put to death? What has he done?” Jonathan asked his father. 33 But Saul hurled his spear at him to kill him. Then Jonathan knew that his father intended to kill David.

32 And Jonathan answered Saul his father, and said unto him, Wherefore shall he be slain? what hath he done? 33 And Saul cast a javelin at him to smite him: whereby Jonathan knew that it was determined of his father to slay David.

32 “But why should he be put to death?” Jonathan asked his father. “What has he done?” 33 Then Saul hurled his spear at Jonathan, intending to kill him. So at last Jonathan realized that his father was really determined to kill David.

32 And Jonathan answered Saul his father, and said to him, “Why should he be killed? What has he done?” 33 Then Saul cast a spear at him to kill him, by which Jonathan knew that it was determined by his father to kill David.

32 Jonathan asked his father, “Why should David be killed? What wrong has he done?” 33 Then Saul threw his spear at Jonathan, trying to kill him. So Jonathan knew that his father really wanted to kill David.

32 And Jonathan answered Saul his father, and said unto him, Wherefore should he be put to death? what hath he done? 33 And Saul cast his spear at him to smite him; whereby Jonathan knew that it was determined of his father to put David to death.

32 And Jonathan answered Saul his father, and said to him, Why should he be put to death? what has he done? 33 Then Saul cast the spear at him to smite him; and Jonathan knew that it was determined by his father to put David to death.

32 Jonathan asked his father, “Why should he be killed? What has he done?” 

33 Saul raised his spear to strike him. Then Jonathan knew his father was determined to kill David.

32 Jonathan answered his father back: “Why is he to be killed? What has he done?”

33 Then Saul threw his spear at Jonathan to kill him, so he knew that his father was determined to kill David.

32 Then Jonathan answered his father Saul, “Why should he be put to death? What has he done?” 33 But Saul threw his spear at him to strike him, so Jonathan knew that it was the decision of his father to put David to death.

32 But Jonathan answered his father Saul and said to him, “Why should he be put to death? What has he done?” 33 Then Saul hurled his spear at him to kill him. So Jonathan knew that his father had decided to kill David.

32 “Why do you want to put him to death?” Jonathan asked his father. “What has he done?”

33 But Saul threw his spear at Jonathan to kill him. Then Jonathan knew that his father wanted to kill David.

32 But Jonathan answered Saul his father and said to him, “Why should he be put to death? What has he done?”

33 Then Saul hurled his spear at him to strike him down; so Jonathan knew that his father had decided to put David to death.
