Ecclesiastes 12:3–4 — The New International Version (NIV)
3 when the keepers of the house tremble,
and the strong men stoop,
when the grinders cease because they are few,
and those looking through the windows grow dim;
4 when the doors to the street are closed
and the sound of grinding fades;
when people rise up at the sound of birds,
but all their songs grow faint;
Ecclesiastes 12:3–4 — King James Version (KJV 1900)

Ecclesiastes 12:3–4 — New Living Translation (NLT)
3 Remember him before your legs—the guards of your house—start to tremble; and before your shoulders—the strong men—stoop. Remember him before your teeth—your few remaining servants—stop grinding; and before your eyes—the women looking through the windows—see dimly.
4 Remember him before the door to life’s opportunities is closed and the sound of work fades. Now you rise at the first chirping of the birds, but then all their sounds will grow faint.
Ecclesiastes 12:3–4 — The New King James Version (NKJV)
3 In the day when the keepers of the house tremble,
And the strong men bow down;
When the grinders cease because they are few,
And those that look through the windows grow dim;
4 When the doors are shut in the streets,
And the sound of grinding is low;
When one rises up at the sound of a bird,
And all the daughters of music are brought low.
Ecclesiastes 12:3–4 — New Century Version (NCV)
3 At that time your arms will shake
and your legs will become weak.
Your teeth will fall out so you cannot chew,
and your eyes will not see clearly.
4 Your ears will be deaf to the noise in the streets,
and you will barely hear the millstone grinding grain.
You’ll wake up when a bird starts singing,
but you will barely hear singing.
Ecclesiastes 12:3–4 — American Standard Version (ASV)
3 in the day when the keepers of the house shall tremble, and the strong men shall bow themselves, and the grinders cease because they are few, and those that look out of the windows shall be darkened, 4 and the doors shall be shut in the street; when the sound of the grinding is low, and one shall rise up at the voice of a bird, and all the daughters of music shall be brought low;
Ecclesiastes 12:3–4 — 1890 Darby Bible (DARBY)
3 in the day when the keepers of the house tremble, and the strong men bow themselves, and the grinders cease because they are few, and those that look out of the windows are darkened, 4 and the doors are shut toward the street; when the sound of the grinding is subdued, and they rise up at the voice of the bird, and all the daughters of song are brought low;
Ecclesiastes 12:3–4 — GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)
3 Remember your Creator when those who guard the house tremble,
strong men are stooped over,
the women at the mill stop grinding
because there are so few of them,
⸤and⸥ those who look out of the windows
see a dim light.
4 Remember your Creator when the doors to the street are closed,
the sound of the mill is muffled,
you are startled at the sound of a bird,
⸤and⸥ those who sing songs become quiet.
Ecclesiastes 12:3–4 — The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
3 on the day when the guardians of the house tremble,
and the strong men stoop,
the women who grind cease because they are few,

4 the doors at the street are shut
while the sound of the mill fades;
when one rises at the sound of a bird,
and all the daughters of song grow faint.
Ecclesiastes 12:3–4 — The New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

Ecclesiastes 12:3–4 — The Lexham English Bible (LEB)

Ecclesiastes 12:3–4 — New International Reader’s Version (1998) (NIrV)
3 Remember your Creator before those who guard the house tremble with old age.
That’s when strong men will be bent over.
The women who grind grain will stop because there are so few of them left.
Those who look through the windows won’t be able to see very well.
4 Remember your Creator before the front doors are closed.
That’s when the sound of grinding will fade away.
Old men will rise up when they hear birds singing.
But they will barely hear any of their songs.

3 in the day that the watchmen of the house tremble, and mighty men stoop, the grinding ones stand idle because they are few, and those who look through windows grow dim;
4 and the doors on the street are shut as the sound of the grinding mill is low, and one will arise at the sound of the bird, and all the daughters of song will sing softly.
