12Be glad and rejoice for your reward is very great in heaven. For so they persecuted the prophets that were before you.

13You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt lose its savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is good for nothing anymore but to be cast out, and to be trodden on by men.

CSBChristian Standard Bible

Be glad and rejoice, because your reward is great in heaven. For that is how they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

NLTNew Living Translation

Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted in the same way.

“You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless.

LEBThe Lexham English Bible

Rejoice and be glad, because your reward is great in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets before you.

“You are the salt of the earth. But if salt becomes tasteless, by what will it be made salty? It is good for nothing any longer except to be thrown outside and trampled under foot by people.

KJV 1900King James Version

Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
