Wisdom of Solomon 12:8–9

8 Yet even those thou sparedst as men, and didst send wasps forerunners of thy host, to destroy them by little and little.

9 Not that thou wast unable to bring the wicked under the just by war, or by cruel beasts, or with one rough word to destroy them at once:

8 But even these you spared, since they were but mortals,

and sent wasps as forerunners of your army

to destroy them little by little,

9 though you were not unable to give the ungodly into the hands of the righteous in battle

or to destroy them at one blow by dread wild animals or your stern word.
