Psalm 77:7–11

7 Then they would put their trust in God

and would not forget his deeds

but would keep his commands.

8 They would not be like their ancestors—

a stubborn and rebellious generation,

whose hearts were not loyal to God,

whose spirits were not faithful to him.

9 The men of Ephraim, though armed with bows,

turned back on the day of battle;

10 they did not keep God’s covenant

and refused to live by his law.

11 They forgot what he had done,

the wonders he had shown them.

7 so that they should set their hope in God

and not forget the works of God,

but keep his commandments;

8 and that they should not be like their fathers,

a stubborn and rebellious generation,

a generation whose heart was not steadfast,

whose spirit was not faithful to God.

9 The Ephraimites, armed with the bow,

turned back on the day of battle.

10 They did not keep God’s covenant,

but refused to walk according to his law.

11 They forgot his works

and the wonders that he had shown them.

7 That they might set their hope in God,

And not forget the works of God,

But keep his commandments:

8 And might not be as their fathers,

A stubborn and rebellious generation;

A generation that set not their heart aright,

And whose spirit was not stedfast with God.

9 The children of Ephraim, being armed, and carrying bows,

Turned back in the day of battle.

10 They kept not the covenant of God,

And refused to walk in his law;

11 And forgat his works,

And his wonders that he had shewed them.

7 So each generation should set its hope anew on God,

not forgetting his glorious miracles

and obeying his commands.

8 Then they will not be like their ancestors—

stubborn, rebellious, and unfaithful,

refusing to give their hearts to God.

9 The warriors of Ephraim, though armed with bows,

turned their backs and fled on the day of battle.

10 They did not keep God’s covenant

and refused to live by his instructions.

11 They forgot what he had done—

the great wonders he had shown them,

7 That they may set their hope in God,

And not forget the works of God,

But keep His commandments;

8 And may not be like their fathers,

A stubborn and rebellious generation,

A generation that did not set its heart aright,

And whose spirit was not faithful to God.

9 The children of Ephraim, being armed and carrying bows,

Turned back in the day of battle.

10 They did not keep the covenant of God;

They refused to walk in His law,

11 And forgot His works

And His wonders that He had shown them.

7 So they would all trust God

and would not forget what he had done

8 They would not be like their ancestors

who were stubborn and disobedient.

Their hearts were not loyal to God,

and they were not true to him.

9 The men of Ephraim had bows for weapons,

but they ran away on the day of battle.

10 They didn’t keep their agreement with God

and refused to live by his teachings.

11 They forgot what he had done

and the miracles he had shown them.

7 That they might set their hope in God,

And not forget the works of God,

But keep his commandments,

8 And might not be as their fathers,

A stubborn and rebellious generation,

A generation that set not their heart aright,

And whose spirit was not stedfast with God.

9 The children of Ephraim, being armed and carrying bows,

Turned back in the day of battle.

10 They kept not the covenant of God,

And refused to walk in his law;

11 And they forgat his doings,

And his wondrous works that he had showed them.

7 And that they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of •God, but observe his commandments; 8 And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation that prepared not their heart, and whose spirit was not stedfast with •God.

9 The sons of Ephraim, armed bowmen, turned back in the day of battle. 10 They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in his law; 11 And forgot his doings, and his marvellous works which he had shewn them.

7 to trust God, to remember what he has done, 

and to obey his commands. 

8 Then they will not be like their ancestors, 

a stubborn and rebellious generation. 

Their hearts were not loyal. 

Their spirits were not faithful to God. 

9 The men of Ephraim, well-equipped with bows ⸤and arrows⸥, 

turned ⸤and ran⸥ on the day of battle. 

10 They had not been faithful to God’s promise.

They refused to follow his teachings. 

11 They forgot what he had done— 

the miracles that he had shown them. 

7 so that they might put their confidence in God

and not forget God’s works,

but keep His commands.

8 Then they would not be like their fathers,

a stubborn and rebellious generation,

a generation whose heart was not loyal

and whose spirit was not faithful to God.

9 The Ephraimite archers turned back

on the day of battle.

10 They did not keep God’s covenant

and refused to live by His law.

11 They forgot what He had done,

the wonderful works He had shown them.

7 so that they should set their hope in God,

but keep his commandments;

8 and that they should not be like their ancestors,

a stubborn and rebellious generation,

a generation whose heart was not steadfast,

9 The Ephraimites, armed with the bow,

11 They forgot what he had done

and the miracles that he had shown them.

9 The sons of Ephraim, armed with archers,

turned back on the day of battle.

10 They did not keep the covenant of God

and refused to go in his law.

11 They also forgot his deeds,

and his wonders that he had shown them.

7 Then they would put their trust in God.

They would not forget what he had done.

They would obey his commands.

8 They would not be like their people who lived before them.

Those people were stubborn. They refused to obey God.

Their hearts were not true to him.

Their spirits were not faithful to him.

9 The soldiers of Ephraim were armed with bows.

But they ran away on the day of battle.

10 They didn’t keep the covenant God had made with them.

They refused to live by his law.

11 They forgot what he had done.

They didn’t remember the wonders he had shown them.

7 That they should put their confidence in God

And not forget the works of God,

But keep His commandments,

8 And not be like their fathers,

A stubborn and rebellious generation,

A generation that did not prepare its heart

And whose spirit was not faithful to God.

9 The sons of Ephraim were archers equipped with bows,

Yet they turned back in the day of battle.

10 They did not keep the covenant of God

And refused to walk in His law;

11 They forgot His deeds

And His miracles that He had shown them.
