¿Dónde seguir golpeándolos,
rebeldes recalcitrantes?
La cabeza es pura llaga,
todo enfermo el corazón;
de los pies a la cabeza
nada sano queda en él:
contusiones, cicatrices,
heridas sin restañar,
sin limpiar y sin vendar,
sin suavizar con aceite.
Su tierra devastada,
sus pueblos calcinados;
ven cómo de sus campos
se aprovechan extranjeros.
Desolación y desastre como en Sodoma.
La capital Sión ha quedado
como choza en una viña,
cual cabaña en melonar,
como una ciudad sitiada.
Si el Señor del universo
no nos hubiera dejado un resto,
seríamos como Sodoma,
parecidos a Gomorra.
