Jeremiah 3:22–24

22 “Return, faithless people;

I will cure you of backsliding.”

“Yes, we will come to you,

for you are the Lord our God.

23 Surely the idolatrous commotion on the hills

and mountains is a deception;

surely in the Lord our God

is the salvation of Israel.

24 From our youth shameful gods have consumed

the fruits of our ancestors’ labor—

their flocks and herds,

their sons and daughters.

22 “Return, O faithless sons;

I will heal your faithlessness.”

“Behold, we come to you,

for you are the Lord our God.

23 Truly the hills are a delusion,

the orgies on the mountains.

Truly in the Lord our God

is the salvation of Israel.

24 “But from our youth the shameful thing has devoured all for which our fathers labored, their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters.

22 Return, ye backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings. Behold, we come unto thee; for thou art the Lord our God. 23 Truly in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills, and from the multitude of mountains: truly in the Lord our God is the salvation of Israel. 24 For shame hath devoured the labour of our fathers from our youth; their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters.

22 “My wayward children,” says the Lord,

“come back to me, and I will heal your wayward hearts.”

“Yes, we’re coming,” the people reply,

“for you are the Lord our God.

23 Our worship of idols on the hills

and our religious orgies on the mountains

are a delusion.

Only in the Lord our God

will Israel ever find salvation.

24 From childhood we have watched

as everything our ancestors worked for—

their flocks and herds, their sons and daughters—

was squandered on a delusion.

22 “Return, you backsliding children,

And I will heal your backslidings.”

“Indeed we do come to You,

For You are the Lord our God.

23 Truly, in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills,

And from the multitude of mountains;

Truly, in the Lord our God

Is the salvation of Israel.

24 For shame has devoured

The labor of our fathers from our youth—

Their flocks and their herds,

Their sons and their daughters.

22 “Come back to me, you unfaithful children,

and I will forgive you for being unfaithful.”

“Yes, we will come to you,

because you are the Lord our God.

23 It was foolish to worship idols on the hills

and on the mountains.

Surely the salvation of Israel

comes from the Lord our God.

24 Since our youth, shameful gods have eaten up in sacrifice

everything our ancestors worked for—

their flocks and herds,

their sons and daughters.

22 —Return, backsliding children; I will heal your backslidings. …Behold, we come unto thee; for thou art Jehovah our God. 23 Truly in vain is salvation looked for from the hills, and the multitude of mountains; truly in Jehovah our God is the salvation of Israel. 24 But shame hath devoured the labour of our fathers from our youth; their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters.

22 “Come back, you rebellious people, 

and I will forgive you for being unfaithful.” 

Here we are! 

We have come to you because you are the Lord our God. 

23 Truly, the noise from the hills, from the mountains, 

is the noise of false worship. 

Truly, the Lord our God will rescue us. 

24 Ever since we were young, 

the shameful worship ⸤of Baal⸥ 

has taken everything our ancestors worked for, 

their flocks and herds, their sons and daughters. 

22 Return, you faithless children.

I will heal your unfaithfulness.

“Here we are, coming to You,

for You are the Lord our God.

23 Surely, falsehood comes from the hills,

commotion from the mountains,

but the salvation of Israel

is only in the Lord our God.

24 From the time of our youth

the shameful one has consumed

what our fathers have worked for—

their flocks and their herds,

their sons and their daughters.

22 Return, O faithless children,

I will heal your faithlessness.

“Here we come to you,

for you are the Lord our God.

23 Truly the hills are a delusion,

a tumult on the mountains.

Truly in the Lord our God

is the salvation of Israel.

24 “But from our youth the shameful thing has devoured all for which our ancestors had labored, their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters.

22 Return, O apostate children,

I will heal your backsliding.

‘Look, we come to you,

for you are Yahweh our God.

23 Surely, an illusion comes from the hills,

the turmoil on the mountains.

Surely, in Yahweh our God

is the salvation of Israel.

24 But the shameful thing has devoured

the labor of our ancestors from our youth,

their flocks, and their cattle,

their sons and their daughters.

22 “You have not been faithful,”

says the Lord.

“Return to me. I will heal you.

Then you will not turn away from me anymore.”

“Yes,” the people say. “We will come to you.

You are the Lord our God.

23 The gods we worship on the hills

and mountains are useless.

You are the Lord our God.

You are the only one who can save us.

24 From our earliest years shameful gods have eaten up

everything our people worked for.

They have eaten up our flocks and herds.

They’ve destroyed our sons and daughters.

22 “Return, O faithless sons,

I will heal your faithlessness.”

“Behold, we come to You;

For You are the Lord our God.

23 “Surely, the hills are a deception,

A tumult on the mountains.

Surely in the Lord our God

Is the salvation of Israel.

24 “But the shameful thing has consumed the labor of our fathers since our youth, their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters.
