Psalm 88

*A Song or Psalm ||for the sons of Korah, to the chief Musician upon *Mahalath Leannoth, ||Maschil of *Heman the Ezrahite.

O Lord aGod of my salvation,

I have bcried day and night before thee:

Let my prayer come before thee:

cIncline thine ear unto my cry;

For my soul is full of troubles:

And dmy life draweth nigh unto ethe grave.

I am counted fwith them that go down into the pit:

I am as a man that hath no strength:

Free among the dead,

Like the slain that lie in the grave,

Whom thou grememberest no more:

And they are hcut off ||from thy hand.

Thou hast laid me in ithe lowest pit,

kIn darkness, in lthe deeps.

Thy wrath lieth hard upon me,

And thou hast afflicted me with mall thy waves. Selah.

Thou hast put away nmine acquaintance far from me;

Thou hast made me oan abomination unto them:

I am pshut up, qand I cannot come forth.

rMine eye mourneth by reason of affliction:

Lord, sI have called daily upon thee,

tI have stretched out my hands unto thee.

10  gWilt thou ushew wonders to the dead?

Shall xthe dead arise and praise thee? Selah.

11  Shall thy lovingkindness gbe declared in the grave?

Or thy faithfulness in ydestruction?

12  Shall zthy wonders be known in athe dark?

And thy righteousness in the land of bforgetfulness?

13  But cunto thee have I cried, O Lord;

And din the morning shall my prayer eprevent thee.

14  Lord, why fCastest thou off my soul?

Why ghidest thou thy face from me?

15  I am afflicted and ready to die from my youth up:

While I suffer thy terrors I am distracted.

16  Thy fierce wrath hgoeth over me;

Thy iterrors have cut me off.

17  jThey came round about me ||daily like water;

They kcompassed me about together.

18  lLover and friend mhast thou put far from me,

And mmine acquaintance into ndarkness.
