A descendant of Levi through Merari who served as a gatekeeper at the house of Yahweh (1 Chr 26:10). Although Shimri was not the firstborn, his father Hosah made him a chief gatekeeper.

Shimri, Son of Hosah
Shimri, Son of Hosah (שִׁמְרִי‎, shimriy). A descendant of Levi through Merari who served as a gatekeeper at the house of Yahweh (1 Chr 26:10). Although Shimri was not the firstborn, his father Hosah made him a chief gatekeeper.
