SHENAZZAR (PERSON) [Heb šenʾaṣṣar (שֶׁנְאַצַּר)]. The name “Shenazzar” is held by only one person in the Hebrew Bible. In 1 Chr 3:18 Shenazzar is the name of the fourth son of Jehoiachin (= Jeconiah) who was exiled to Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar in 597 b.c. Albright argued that the name “Shenazzar”

Shenazzar
Shenazzar shə-naʹzər [Heb. šenʾaṣṣar; Akk. Sin-uṣur—‘Sin (the moon-god), protect’] (1 Ch. 3:18); AV SHENAZAR. Son of Jeconiah (Jehoiachin) and uncle of Zerubbabel. The identification of Shenazzar with Sheshbazzar has been questioned (cf. P. -R. Berger, ZAW, 83 [1971], 98–100).
