Shema, Descendant of Benjamin
Shema, Descendant of Benjamin (שְׁמַע‎, shema'). The head of the Aijalon clan of the tribe of Benjamin (1 Chr 8:13). The Shimei (שִׁמְעִי‎, shim'iy) referenced in 1 Chr 8:21 is probably another reference to Shema.

SHIMEI (Heb. šim‘î, perhaps abridged from šema‘yāhû, ‘Yahweh has heard’). The OT records 19 men named Shimei. The first of note was a grandson of Levi (Nu. 3:21), and his family (the Shimeites) had part of the responsibility for maintaining the tent of meeting as their sacred charge (Nu. 3:25–26).
