Shelah (son of Judah)

Judah’s third son, whom Judah refused to give in marriage to Tamar, the widow of both of Shelah’s older brothers (Gen 38:5–26; 46:12). Shelah nevertheless did have children of his own and became the eponymous head of the clan of the Shelanites (Num 26:20; 1 Chr 2:3; 4:21).
