Pildash (Person)
PILDASH (PERSON) [Heb pildāš (פִּלְדָּשׁ)]. The sixth son borne by Milcah to her husband Nahor, Abraham’s brother (Gen 22:22). The name Pildash seems to be used here as a personal one. If it is also a tribal name, the location is unknown but is perhaps to be sought in N Arabia with other Nahorites.
Baker Encyclopedia of the Bible
Pildash. Sixth son of Nahor and Milcah and nephew of Abraham. He is mentioned immediately following the repeated announcement of God’s promise that Abraham’s descendants will be too numerous to count (Gn 22:22).
The International Standard Bible Encyclopedia, Revised
Pildash pilʹdash [Heb. pildāš] (Gen. 22:22). A son of Abraham’s brother Nahor and Milcah. The etymology of the name is uncertain. Some scholars (e.g., R. de Vaux, Early History of Israel [Eng. tr. 1978], pp. 212, 240) have regarded Nahor’s sons as the ancestors of the Aramean tribes.
