Libni, Son of Mahli
Libni, Son of Mahli (לִבְנִי‎, livniy). A descendant of Levi through Mahli (1 Chr 6:29). He should not be confused with Libni, son of Gershon, who was the patriarch of the Libnite clan.

LIBNI (PERSON) [Heb libnı̂ (לִבְנִי)]. LIBNITE. 1. All evidence indicates that the Libnites were a levitic family from the territory of Judah. Their name is probably derived from the name of the Judahite town Libnah (the expected form would be *libnātı̂, but cf. yĕhûdâ-yĕhûdı̂, ṣārĕʿâ-ṣārĕʿı̂).
