A large freshwater lake in northern Israel known by several names: Chinnereth (Num 34:11; Deut. 3:17; Josh. 13:27), Chinneroth (Josh. 11:2; 12:3), the Sea of Gennesaret (Mark 6:53; Luke 5:1), the Sea of Galilee (Matt. 15:29; Mark 1:16), and Lake Tiberias (John 6:1; 21:1).
