Kadmiel
Excerpt from the Lexham Bible Dictionary, the most advanced Bible dictionary.
A Levite and the head of a family who returned to Judah from exile with Zerubbabel (Ezra 2:40; 3:9; Neh 7:43; Neh 12:8). A Levite called Kadmiel led the people in prayer and worship as part of the postexilic community’s confession and repentance during the time of Ezra and Nehemiah (Neh 9:4–5). He also signed as a witness to the covenant, renewing the people’s commitment to serve Yahweh (Neh 10:9). The Kadmiel from the time of Ezra and Nehemiah is probably a later descendant of the Kadmiel who returned with Zerubbabel. Jeshua, a descendant of Kadmiel, was among the “chiefs of the Levites” in the postexilic period when Joiakim, the son of Jeshua, was the high priest (Neh 12:24).
