JOSEPH, BROTHER OF JESUS One of the “brothers of the Lord” (Matt 13:55; 27:56; Mark 15:40, 47). Also called Joses, a Greek equivalent of the Hebrew “Joseph,” he had a brother, James, called the “brother of the Lord” (Gal 1:19). His mother, Mary, is probably “Mary the wife of Clopas” (John 19:25).
