JORAI (PERSON) [Heb yôray (יֹורַי)]. A Gadite who was a son of Abihail and one of seven kinsmen who are named alongside four (or three; see SHAPHAT) tribal leaders (1 Chr 5:13). “Jorai” is possibly the abbreviated form of a longer name that meant “Yahu has seen.” Jorai and his kinsmen lived opposite

JO´RAI (jōʹra-ī; same as “Jorah”). The fourth named of seven Gadite leaders (1 Chron. 5:13), the place of whose residence is not given, unless, as Keil conjectures (Com., ad loc.), v. 16 mentions it. In that case they lived in Gilead, in Bashan, perhaps about 782 b.c.
