Jeriah, Son of Hebron (יְרִיָּהוּ‎, yeriyyahu). A Levite and chief of the Hebronites during the reign of David (1 Chr 23:19; 24:23). Also spelled Jerijah (1 Chr 26:31).

JERIAH (PERSON) [Heb yĕrı̂yāhû (יְרִיָּהוּ)]. A Kohathite, the first son of Hebron, whom, according to the 1 Chronicles, David appointed to service in the Temple and its cult (1 Chr 23:19). Jeriah jə-rīʹə [Heb. yerîyāhû-‘may Yahweh see’]. In 1 Ch. 23:19; 24:23 the same as Jerijah (Heb. yerîyâ) in 26:31 (NEB Jeriah), head of a Levitical house; called chief of the Hebronites in 24:23 (cf. v 30).
