Jerah jēʹrə, jerʹə [Heb. yeraḥ—‘moon’]. A descendant of Joktan (Gen. 10:26; 1 Ch. 1:20). The others named include Hazarmaveth (Hadramaut), Sheba, and Ophir, all of whom are considered eponymous founders of places in South Arabia (and possibly in the case of Ophir, eastern Africa, e.g., Somaliland).
