JAMLECH (PERSON) [Heb yamlēk (יַמְלֵך)]. A descendant of Simeon (1 Chr 4:34), described as one of the “princes in their families” (1 Chr 4:38). The name probably means “(Yahweh) reigns.” (Indeed, Lucian translates, “he reigns.”) In the LXX the name appears as Iemoloch. See Williamson Chronicles NCBC,

Jamlech jamʹlek [Heb. yamlēḵ—‘may he (God) cause to reign’]. A prince or chief of the tribe of Simeon (1 Ch. 4:34). If v 41 refers to the preceding list, he lived at the time of Hezekiah.
