Jachin (1 Ch. 24:17)
Excerpt from the Lexham Bible Dictionary, the most advanced Bible dictionary.
Also spelled Jakin. A priest who lived in Judah after the exile (1 Chr 9:10; Neh 11:10).In David’s time, Jachin was the head of one of the 24 priestly families (1 Chr 24:1–19). The Jachin mentioned in 1 Chr 9:10 and Neh 11:10 is probably the leading member of that priestly family at the time. Alternately, Jachin could be used as a family name there, not as the name of an individual from that family.
