Jabneel (of Judah)

Also called Jabneel. A town located on the northern border of the land assigned to Judah (Josh 15:11), which King Uzziah took from the Philistines (2 Chr 26:6). Josephus assigned Jabneh to the tribe of Dan (Antiquities, 5.1.22). Later, it was a major player in the wars between the Maccabees and the Syrians.
