Abrahams, Israel (1858–1925), Rabbinic scholar. Educated at University College, London, he was appointed reader in Talmudic and Rabbinic literature at Cambridge in 1902. He became prominent as a leader of ‘Liberal Judaism’. In his later years he applied himself esp. to the study of Christian origins
