Ishma, Son of Etam
Ishma, Son of Etam (יִשְׁמָא‎, yishma'). The second son of Etam listed in the genealogy of Judah (1 Chr 4:3). The Masoretic Text refers to Ishma as the father of Etam, in which case Etam may refer to a group of people in relation to a place called Etam.

ISHMA (PERSON) [Heb yišmāʾ (יִשְׁמָא)]. A Judahite, the brother of Jezreel, Idbash, and Hazzelelponi (1 Chr 4:3). LXX identifies Ishma (Gk ragma) as a son of Etam (RSV adopts this reading), while MT refers to him as a father of Etam. In the latter case, Etam would probably denote a group of people
