Ishbak (Person)
ISHBAK (PERSON) [Heb yišbāq (יִשְׁבָּק)]. The fifth son of Abraham and Keturah (Gen 25:2; 1 Chr 1:32). Abraham, in order to remove rivals to Isaac’s claim to his inheritance, provided gifts to Ishbak and his brothers and sent them to eastern areas (Gen 25:6). No descendants of Ishbak are mentioned

Ishbak ishʹbak [Heb. yišbāq]. A name in the list of sons of Abraham by Keturah (Gen. 25:2; 1 Ch. 1:32). Cf. the personal name Shobek in Neh. 10:24 (MT 25).

ISHBAK. The name carried by the descendants of Ishbak, one of the sons of Abraham and Keturah (Gen 25:2). According to the Annals of Shalmaneser III (858–824) they seem to have settled in N Syria (ANET, pp. 277 f.).
