IMRI (PERSON) [Heb ʾimrı̂ (אִמְרִי‎)]. 1. An ancestor of one of the exiles who returned to Jerusalem from exile in Babylon (1 Chr 9:4). Imri was a descendant of Judah through Judah’s and Tamar’s first-born son Perez. The name Imri is an abbreviation of the name Amariah (Bowman IB 3: 684). In Neh 11:4,
