Hukok (Place)
HUKOK (PLACE) [Heb ḥûqōq (חוּקֹק)]. Var. HELKATH? A town in the tribe of Asher which, along with its pasture lands, was set aside for the Levites (1 Chr 6:60—Eng 6:75). In the parallel list of levitical towns in Joshua 21, the Asherite town listed between Abdon and Rehob is not Hukok but HELKATH.

Hukok hyoo’kok (חוּקֹקH2577). A town within the tribal territory of Asher assigned to the Levites descended from Gershon (1 Chr. 6:75 [Heb. 6:60]). Some think it may be the same as Hukkok, but the parallel passage (Josh. 21:31) leads most scholars to identify it with Helkath.
