Griddle [Heb. maḥaḇaṯ] (Lev. 2:5; 6:21 [MT 14]; 7:9); AV PAN. A thick plate of pottery or metal, used for frying the cereal offering. Cf. the use of maḥaḇaṯ (“iron plate”) in Ezk. 4:3. See Bread IV.

Frying Pan
FRYING PAN. A vessel in which the meal offering was cooked (Lev 2:7; 7:9), more properly a deep-fat pan or kettle. The pan used by Tamar (2 Sam 13:9) was probably a frying pan.

FRYING PAN - KJV term for covered pan, a special pan used for baking bread for the grain offering in the Tabernacle (Lev. 2:7).

GRIDDLE Flat surface on which food is cooked by dry heat (Lev. 2:5; 6:21; 7:9 modern translations; KJV, pan). In earlier days this would have been of stone. Later griddles were made of iron (Ezek. 4:3 where the same Hebrew word is often rendered “plate”).
