Golden Gate. †A gate in the eastern wall of the temple esplanade in the Old City of Jerusalem. The name (Arab. Bab ed-Daheriyeh) derives from Lat. aurea, a misreading of “Beautiful Gate” (Gk. Hōraía) in Acts 3:2; although most scholars discredit its association with the biblical gate, it may
