GILOH (PLACE) [Heb gilo (גִּלָ)]. Var. GILO. GILONITE. One of eleven towns in the hill country of Judah, located in the general vicinity of Debir (Josh 15:51). It was also the hometown of Ahithophel, one of David’s counselors (2 Sam 15:12; 23:34) who played a key role in Absalom’s revolt against David.
