DODAVAHU (PERSON) [Heb dōdāwāhû (דֹּדָוָהוּ)]. Father of Eliezer, a prophet from Mareshah, a town in the Shephelah district of Judah (2 Chr 20:37). The LXX’s ōd (e)ia and dōdia probably reflect Heb* dōdı̂yāh. Dodavahu’s son upbraided Jehosaphat, king of Judah, for aligning himself with Ahaziah,

DODAVAH*, DODAVAHU Inhabitant of Mareshah and father of Eliezer the prophet. Eliezer spoke against King Jehoshaphat of Judah because of his alliance with King Ahaziah of Israel (2 Chr 20:37, kjv “Dodavah”).
DODAVAH. A man (RSV. Dodavahu) from Mareshah in Judah. His son Eliezer prophesied to King Jehoshaphat that for joining the wicked king of Ahaziah of Israel in a maritime commercial venture, his fleet of ships would be wrecked (2 Chr 20:37).
DOD´AVAHU (dodʹa-va-hū; “beloved of Jehovah”). A man of Mareshah, in Judah, and father of the Eliezer who predicted to Ahaziah the wreck of Jehoshaphat’s fleet (2 Chron. 20:37), 874 b.c.
DODAVAH [DOE duh vah] (beloved of the Lord) — the father of Eliezer of Mareshah (2 Chr. 20:37; Dodavahu, NRSV, NIV, NASB, REB). Eliezer prophesied the destruction of Jehoshaphat’s ships.
