Chosamaeus
Chosamaeus (Σίμων Χοσαμαι̂ος, Simōn Chosamaios). Also known as Simon Chosamaeus. A name found only in 1 Esdras 9:32 in a list of the sons of Annan.

CHOSAMAEUS (PERSON) [Gk Chosamaios (Χοσαμαιος)]. A name associated with Simon, a son of Annan, who divorced his foreign wife during Ezra’s reform (1 Esdr 9:32). Chosamaeus kos-ə-mḕəs [Gk. A Simōn Chosamaios, B Chosamaos]; NEB CHOSOMAEUS. The name occurs in 1 Esd. 9:32 as one of the sons of Annas. But in the parallel passage (Ezr. 10:31) the name is simply “Simeon,” followed by “Benjamin, Malluch, Shemariah,” which are omitted in 1 Esdras. The LXX of Ezr.

Chosamaeus kos′uh-mee′uhs (Χοσαμαιος). A Simon Chosamaeus is listed as one of the five sons or descendants of Annan who had married foreign wives (1 Esd. 9:32). What appears to be the parallel account (Ezra 10:31–32) lists eight sons of Harim (one of whom is named Simeon), but it does not include Chosamaeus.

CHOSAMAEUS
CHOSAMAEUS kos´uh-mee´uhs [Χοσαμαιος Chosamaios]. A descendant of Canaan who was forced by Ezra to put away his foreign wife and his children (1 Esd 9:32). The relation of 1 Esd 9:32 to the presumably parallel account in Ezra 10:32 is uncertain.
