Bela, Son of Azaz
Bela, Son of Azaz (בֶּ֫לַע‎, bela'). A descendant of Reuben from the clan of Joel. A man of great power and wealth, whose livestock holdings stretched from Nebo to the Euphrates (1 Chr 5:8–9).

From the name of his father, Beor, we may infer that he was a Chaldean by birth and reigned in Edom by conquest. He may have been contemporary with Moses and Balaam.

Belaa thing swallowed. (1.) A city on the shore of the Dead Sea, not far from Sodom, called also Zoar. It was the only one of the five cities that was spared at Lot’s intercession (Gen. 19:20, 23).
