Beerothites
Excerpt from the Lexham Bible Dictionary, the most advanced Bible dictionary.
The residents of Beeroth (2 Sam 4:3, 5, 9; 23:37). The Beerothites were among the non-Israelites spared (though enslaved) by Joshua due to the treaty the Hivites from Gibeon had tricked him into accepting (Josh 9:3–21). The four towns of the Hivites—Gibeon, Beeroth, Chephirah, and Kiriath-jearim—were located in territory later allotted to the tribe of Benjamin (Josh 18:25–28). At some point, King Saul had tried to wipe them out (2 Sam 21:2, 5).
