BEERAH (PERSON) [Heb bĕʾērâ (בְּאֵרָה)]. A Reubenite leader who was exiled by the Assyrians under Tiglath-pileser III (1 Chr 5:6). His name is cognate with a Hebrew word for “well” or “pit” (bĕʾēr). The genealogy in 1 Chr 5:1–10 begins with the names of Reuben’s four sons, just as they are listed
