Axle
Axle [Heb. seren] (1 K. 7:30); AV PLATE; [yāḏ] (7:32f); AV AXLETREE; NEB also WHEEL-FORK (v 32). Part of the ornamental bronze wagons in Solomon’s temple, In v 32 yāḏ (“hand”) may indicate the axle-mounts rather than the axles themselves.

AXLE. The term occurs only in 1 Kings 7:32–33, as the translation of yād, “hand,” the whole phrase being the “hands of the wheels.”

AXLE — a supporting shaft upon which wheels revolve. Solomon’s Temple had ten bronze carts, each with four bronze wheels and axles of bronze (1 Kin. 7:30, 32; axletrees, KJV).
