ANIAM (PERSON) [Heb ʾănı̂ʿām (אֲנִיעָם)]. The fourth son of Shemida (1 Chr 7:19) in the genealogy of Manasseh (7:14–19). His name occurs only once in the Bible and may have meant “people’s lament” (ʾānâ + ʿam) or “I am kinsman” (ʾănı̂ + ʿam). Noth (IPN, 237) suggested that the name is a scribal
