AMOZ (PERSON) [Heb ʾāmôṣ (אָמֹוץ)]. The father of the prophet Isaiah (Isa 1:1). Other than his name, the Hebrew Bible gives us no information about Amoz. Furthermore, this name is the only direct information we have about Isaiah’s origins. See ISAIAH. The name occurs thirteen times in the Hebrew Bible
