Maclaren, Alexander (1826–1910), *Baptist preacher and expositor. Trained at Glasgow University and Stepney College, after twelve years as minister in Southampton (1846–58) he moved to Manchester and from the pulpit of Union Chapel (1858–1903) achieved a world-wide reputation by his sermons and writings.
