Alemeth
Alemeth (עָלֶ֫מֶת‎, alemeth). Also called Almon (עַלְמוֹן‎, almon). A city assigned to the tribe of Benjamin and located near Anathoth. It was one of the Levitical cities (Josh 21:18; 1 Chr 6:60).

ALMON (PLACE) [Heb ʿalmôn (עַלְמֹון)]. Var. ALEMETH. A city given to the descendents of Aaron the priest (Josh 21:18). BDB (p. 761) derived it from ʿlam, “conceal, hidden;” others suggest it means “sign” or “road mark.” Albright thought the meaning of the name was obscure. It is spelled Gamala in LXX,

Almon alʹmən [Heb. ‘almôn]. A Levitical city in the tribe of Benjamin (Josh. 21:18), the same as Alemeth of 1 Ch. 6:60. It is probably to be identified with Khirbet ‘Almît, NE of Anathoth.
