Archaeology

Lapp directed two seasons of excavations in January 1963 and February 1964 (Lapp and Lapp, “Cave Clearances,” 7–12). The archaeological staff included 10–15 archaeologists and several other additional workers (“Daliyeh, Wadi-ed,” 161; see also, Cross, 113). Two caves were the primary focus of these excavations: Cave of the Father of the Dagger (Cave 1) and the Caverns of the Sleepy One (‘Araq en-Na’saneh; Cave 2).
